Why Children

In India children's day is celebrated on 14th November in the memory of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, first prime minister of the nation. 14th Novmber is the date of his birth anniversary. Pandit Nehru was fondly called chachaji, and was known for his love for children. On this day various events are organized in schools or outside schools and gifts are distributed among children.

He had an unmistakable vision of what modern India should look like and he set out to understand his dreams for the country by setting up solid columns which would bolster the youthful country. The future of our country relies upon our children, Pandit Nehru proposed, when given satisfactory open door and direction, the offspring of the nation will indicate huge potential to add to society and mankind.

Before 1964, India observed Children's Day on 20 November, which was the universal Children's Day by the United Nations. But after his passing in 1964, it was consistently chosen to praise his birthday as Bal Diwas in the nation because of his adoration and warmth towards kids.
